More than 80 teachers and education leaders from Adventist schools across Fiji gathered at Navesau Adventist High School for Quality Adventist Schools Pacific (QASP) training.
South Pacific Division (SPD) education director Dr Elisapesi Manson facilitated the training, which was held September 1-2. Mrs Manson said one of the program’s most significant outcomes was that each participating school completed a draft five-year School Improvement Plan, providing a strategic roadmap for strengthening educational quality, Adventist identity, leadership and community engagement. This also supports the SPD education system’s strategic priorities while reinforcing the Fiji government’s commitment to continuous school improvement and quality education for all learners in the country.
School leaders expressed appreciation for the practical nature of the training. One principal from a rural Adventist school in Vanua Levu was thankful for the opportunity to develop and complete a School Improvement Plan that accurately reflected his school’s current context, strengths and challenges. Another school leader noted that the process helped his team move beyond broad aspirations and set clear, achievable priorities to guide school improvement efforts over the next five years. An urban school leader from Suva said the training provided a valuable framework for aligning the school’s vision, resources and mission with measurable actions that can realistically lead to improved educational outcomes for students.
The QASP rollout training is a SPD initiative that provides a strategic framework for retention by strengthening Adventist identity, equipping teachers as disciple-makers, improving school culture, developing mission-focused school improvement plans and creating thriving Christ-centred learning communities.
Fiji Mission president Pastor Epeli Saukuru expressed his gratitude on behalf of Fiji Mission to the SPD for its commitment to delivering quality Adventist schools in the region.
