Adventists across the South Pacific are being invited to join a global prayer initiative focused on people from South Asian religious and cultural backgrounds.

Global Prayer Day: Praying for Our South Asian Neighbours will be held online on November 1, bringing church members worldwide together to pray for South Asian communities.

The initiative is organised by the Global Mission Centre for South Asian Religions, one of several centres operated by the General Conference Office of Adventist Mission to help Adventists better understand and build relationships with people from different religious and cultural backgrounds.

South Pacific Division Global Mission director Dr Wayne Krause said the initiative is particularly relevant to the South Pacific because of its culturally diverse communities, including many people with South Asian heritage.

“This is an opportunity for Adventists across the South Pacific to unite with believers around the world in praying for these communities,” Dr Krause added.

The prayer day will coincide with the period when millions of Hindus and Sikhs around the world celebrate Diwali. Organisers said the event aims to increase awareness of South Asian communities and encourage Adventists to build meaningful relationships through understanding, friendship and prayer.
