Mums At The Table has launched two more groups in Victoria, bringing the state’s total to five. The Seddon Mums At The Table group and Werribee Mums At The Table group partners with the Seddon and Werribee Seventh-day Adventist churches respectively.
“It’s great to increase the number of groups in one of the largest Adventist Conferences in Australia,” said Melody Tan, project manager of Mums At The Table. “With about a quarter of Australia’s total population living in Victoria, these additional groups will help more community mums find their village.”
Mums At The Table partners with local Adventist churches, equipping them to “build meaningful, lasting relationships with the local community beyond their congregations”. According to Mrs Tan, this is achieved through hosting mum-focused gatherings where churches create safe, welcoming spaces where parents can connect, support one another and access practical help.
The model relies heavily on local church members, called volunteer moderators, to develop genuine connection, meeting mums where they are, fostering trust and building relationships.
Both Seddon and Werribee Mums At The Table groups have three volunteer moderators each, and plan to start local playgroups to support mums with young children. Following the Mums At The Table model, they will also extend invitations to relevant church events such as Adventurers and Pathfinders, in the near future.
The other Mums At The Table groups in Victoria are Eastern Melbourne, West Gippsland and Bairnsdale.
