Sonoma Adventist College in Papua New Guinea officially launched its new stand-alone Library Management System on August 31.
The move follows a recommendation from the Adventist Accrediting Association and the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.
The system was dedicated by Sonoma chaplain Pastor Garry Laukei and launched in the presence of students and staff.
Head librarian Lenga Ottis said the move from a manual to a digital automated system would improve efficiency in cataloguing and circulation services.
Academic dean Joe Benjamin said the launch reflected the college’s commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, research innovation and knowledge management.
Waygon Lutu, speaking on behalf of the Student Representative Council, thanked the college for implementing the system and said students could now access library services online.
