I still remember my first mobile phone. It was 2001, and it was a Nokia 3310. I could make phone calls and send text messages, all in the palm of my hand. Since then, our phones have developed so much that we can use them for nearly anything. Every day, billions reach for a device that connects them instantly with family, friends, communities and strangers worldwide. This provides an extraordinary opportunity to see these devices not just as tools for information and entertainment, but as modern-day pulpits for proclaiming the greatest story ever told. Social media, messaging apps, podcasts, videos, blogs and online communities provide unprecedented opportunities to share hope, encouragement and truth. A simple post about God’s faithfulness, a short video sharing a testimony or a message offering prayer can reach those who may never enter a church. What was once limited by geography has now been expanded by technology.
The apostle Paul wrote, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15). In our generation, those beautiful feet may be carrying smartphones. Through our screens, we can bring the good news of Jesus into homes, workplaces, schools and nations. Yet the challenge is not simply to create more content; it is to be authentic witnesses. Jesus declared, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). Every post can either reflect Christ or distract from Him. Our digital presence should shine with grace, truth, compassion and hope.
OneVoice27 is coming next year, inviting us to reflect on the 2000 years since Jesus was baptised and began His public ministry—a ministry that changed history and provided salvation for humanity. As OneVoice27 gathers believers around the message of Jesus, let us recognise the mission field already in our hands. The device we carry every day can become an instrument of eternal impact. With prayerful intentionality and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can use every platform, post and connection to lift up the name of Jesus and invite the world to encounter His saving love.
