More than 150 delegates are gathering at Kulungi Seventh-day Adventist Church in West New Britain for the 14th business session of the New Britain New Ireland Mission (NBNIM), taking place from September 28 to 30.
Travel to the session was challenging for many participants, some spending days on the road and up to 20 hours at sea holding worships and devotions on board as they made their way to the venue. Local church members provided accommodation, meals and a warm welcome on arrival.
Among the delegates are local church leaders, pastors and departmental directors. For many, including Elder Mark Paknie from East New Britain Province, this is their first time attending a session.
“When I was appointed to represent my local church, I was feeling nervous and under pressure,” said Mr Paknie. “I was praying and also requesting that the church members pray for me, as it is God’s call. While travelling on a passenger board, I heard the sermons presented and was relieved from all the pressures, and I was impressed that God is with us and He will lead us to appoint our leaders.”
The three-day program will focus on reports, planning and the election of departmental directors. NBNIM leaders expressed gratitude to the host churches for months of preparation and encouraged delegates to seek God’s guidance as they consider decisions that will shape the Mission for the next four years.
