The Menawi Seventh-day Adventist Church in Morobe Province has entered the second phase of its “Menyamya Mission 2026” initiative, with construction underway on a new pastor’s house.

Led by the Morobe Mission and Papua New Guinea Union Mission, the project aims to strengthen the church’s presence in the remote Menyamya District by completing multiple building projects.

In just four days, a team made up of Menyamya Vocational Centre carpentry students, local church leaders and community members completed the main frame and structural supports of the house.

District director Pastor Kevin Pais said the residence will enable a pastor to live within the community and provide consistent spiritual leadership.

Despite logistical and financial challenges associated with building in a remote, high-altitude area, the project has progressed through volunteer labour and local support.

Once the pastor’s house is completed, the team plans to begin construction of a church building—an important step toward the formal organisation of the Menawi congregation.

The Menyamya Mission 2026 initiative seeks to equip local churches across the district with facilities to support worship and community outreach.
