Theology students and faculty at Fulton Adventist University gathered on campus from March 6 to 8 for a biannual missional symposium focused on outreach in local communities.
Themed “Mission to our Towns and Villages”, the program explored practical approaches to mission, with a particular emphasis on preparation for the upcoming Trans Pacific for Christ initiative.
South Pacific Division (SPD) director of Global Mission Dr Wayne Krause opened the symposium, speaking on the example of Jesus’ interaction with the woman at the well and the principles that underpin effective mission.
Leaders from the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) and Fulton also contributed presentations, highlighting the role of practical ministry, innovation and Biblical foundations in mission work.
Final-year theology student Marika Tabua said the timing of the symposium was significant. “This symposium is such a blessing because it comes at a time when we are all preparing for Fulton for Christ and we needed these reminders about being involved in mission,” he said.
Dean of Theology Professor Limoni Manu said the initiative supports students in applying their learning. “It further helps our students in integrating the practical side of Theology to their studies,” he said.
The symposium is held twice each year and has been running since 2023 as a joint initiative between the SPD, TPUM and Fulton.
