Seven people were baptised at the conclusion of the Niue for Christ evangelistic program from July 12 to 25, which combined health ministry with Bible presentations and attracted broad community participation.
South Pacific Division vice-president Pastor Maveni Kaufononga, who served as one of the presenters, said the initiative sought to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the community.
Each day began with radio presentations on health and family life, providing practical information for the wider community and inviting listeners to the evening meetings, which featured healthy cooking demonstrations, presentations on natural remedies, health talks led by a team from Sydney Adventist Hospital and spiritual messages.
“This combination of practical health education and biblical teaching was well received and attracted consistent attendance throughout the program,” Pastor Kaufononga said.
He also highlighted the level of community participation, noting that church leaders from other denominations attended regularly alongside many local residents.
Refreshments were served after each meeting, creating opportunities for fellowship and discussion. Pastor Kaufononga said a growing sense of community became evident during the second week when many visitors voluntarily began contributing food and refreshments.
“It demonstrated a growing sense of ownership and community,” he said.
The program concluded with the baptism of seven people.
“We rejoice in these decisions and pray that the local church will continue to nurture these new believers and follow up the many interests that came out of the program,” Pastor Kaufononga said.
