Hundreds of people attended a free community concert by Australian Christian artist Paul Colman at Springwood Seventh-day Adventist Church (Brisbane, Qld), including more than 100 guests from other Christian denominations and the wider community.

Mr Colman joined the Springwood church congregation during the Sabbath morning service, where he shared a musical item, before presenting an evening concert featuring music, storytelling and reflections on faith. With an international career that includes a Grammy Award nomination, he is known as a solo artist, founder of the Paul Colman Trio and former guitarist for the Newsboys.

According to Springwood church lead elder Loren Justins, the concert created opportunities to connect with people from across the wider community and different Christian backgrounds. “The strong attendance was an encouraging reminder of the role music and storytelling can play in building bridges and opening doors,” said Mr Justins.

During the evening program, Mr Colman performed songs including Killing Tree, Dip, Fill My Cup and Run, while also sharing stories from his life, music career and faith journey.

He also reflected on his long connection with the Adventist Church, recalling that the Paul Colman Trio was among the first Christian groups from outside the denomination to lead music at North New South Wales Big Camp. He previously performed at Springwood church in 2023.

“I’ve sung for the faith community in more than 50 countries on six continents and [Seventh-day Adventists] stand out for their warmth, genuine love and passionate faith,” Mr Colman said. “I love coming to the Springwood Adventist community.”

Mr Justins described the concert as “more than simply a night of good music”. He added, “Judging by the laughter, singing and conversations that continued after the concert, the evening was a great success.”
