An evangelistic campaign at Lokuru on Rendova Island concluded with 138 people being baptised as part of Solomon Islands for Christ.

Lae District director Pastor Liye Keyomba preached at the Lokuru site during the nationwide campaign, which brought together local and international speakers at sites across the Solomon Islands.

Among the 138 baptised were 39 people from other faiths. The baptism was held on July 18.

Pastor Keyomba was assisted with the baptisms by Papua New Guinea University of Technology Adventist Residential Campus chaplain Pastor Robert Jonathan, Bougainville Mission secretary Pastor Mathew Walter and Rendova Island district director Pastor Edward Joel.

Elsewhere on Rendova Island, priests from the Rendova Harbour village Anglican church allowed the Adventist Church to run Solomon Islands for Christ evangelistic campaigns at seven sites.

When rain fell for four consecutive nights at one of the sites, Rendova Harbour, the Anglican priests opened the doors of their church, inviting Pastor Jonathan and the attendees to continue the meetings inside.

Their hospitality enabled the evangelistic meetings to continue despite the wet weather.
