Two long-serving Seventh-day Adventist volunteers have been recognised at the 2026 Glenorchy Community and Volunteer Awards in Tasmania.

Collinsvale Fire Brigade second officer James Campbell was recognised for his contribution to the City of Glenorchy and the wider community, while Sandra Fehre was acknowledged for more than two decades of service through the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Op Shop in Glenorchy.

Members of the Collinsvale Fire Brigade praised Mr Campbell for the difference he is making in the community.

“James’ dedication, leadership and commitment to helping others have made a lasting impact across our community,” they said. “Whether responding to emergencies, supporting community events or mentoring fellow volunteers, his contribution reflects the very best of community service.”

Ms Fehre has volunteered at the ADRA shop since it was opened in 2001 and has served as the manager since 2005.

The Glenorchy Community and Volunteer Awards celebrate residents who go above and beyond to support others, foster community spirit and help create a stronger and more connected city.

Mayor Sue Hickey said the awards recognise people whose efforts often happen quietly behind the scenes but have a significant impact on the wider community.

“All of our nominees, through their hard work and commitment, are helping to make our community the best it can possibly be by bringing people together, building a sense of community and providing opportunities for people to connect with others,” she said.

Tasmanian Conference president Dr Jeff Parker said the Conference is very proud of both volunteers, who are members of the Glenorchy church.

“Their commitment to volunteering in the church and the community is amazing,” Dr Parker said. “This recognition is very much deserved.  We also know that both Sandra and James represent countless other volunteers in our Conference who regularly volunteer and we are proud of them as well.”
