More than 80 people attended a Community Wellness Program at Avonhub, Richmond (New Zealand) on August 24.
The monthly initiative, organised by the Christchurch Multicultural Filipino Seventh-day Adventist Church (CMFSDAC) in partnership with ADRA, focuses on activities promoting holistic well-being through lectures, interactive activities and community-building events. Key topics include family health, marriage enrichment, youth engagement, drug awareness and environmental stewardship.
“It’s a time to strengthen family and community bonds while learning how to live healthier and happier lives,” said one of the organisers.
Guest speaker Dr Gladden Flores encouraged participants to live healthier lives for the benefit of their families and communities. “When we are healthy, our families are healthy. A healthy family leads to a healthy church, community and society,” he said.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the event. “I’m inspired and happy to be here with my kids. It’s such a blessed day,” said Nina Montebello. For Sherryl Mendoza the event provided an opportunity to learn and reflect, “The lecture about family reminded me how short life is and how important it is to cherish family and friends,” she said.
CMFSDAC pastor Lowell Quinto thanked ADRA and church members for their support. “It was a successful event of learning and fellowship. To God be all the glory,” he said.
