Hills Adventist College (Sydney, NSW) used a vibrant method to raise funds for playground upgrades.
The school’s recent colour fun run raised over $25,000 for upgrades to the Castle Hill campus’s playground.
“I really enjoyed the colour fun run,” Ryan, one of the students, said. “My favourite part was getting coloured powder sprayed on me and running with my friend. I enjoyed the fundraising to help the school and also to get a prize.”
Students who ran the course had coloured powder thrown at them, making for a fun and colourfully messy afternoon. Students from prep to year 12 were all encouraged to participate and watching the school’s leadership get covered in slime was a big incentive for reaching fundraising targets.
“The school fun run was a fantastic day that connected staff, students and parents,” school principal Carlie Deppeler said. “The money raised will be used for a playground update at the Castle Hill campus. This will be appreciated by students for years to come.”
Year 11 students also raised funds for their upcoming service trip to the Solomon Islands selling food and drinks on the day. The trip aims to build a multi-purpose centre at Betikama Adventist College, which will be used for chapels, assemblies and exams. The group will also assist with classroom renovations such as painting as well as helping with learning activities and sharing knowledge with staff members and students.
