Celebrating new life, up to 30 babies born at the Sydney Adventist Hospital over the Easter weekend will receive a special gift of bunny booties.
Knitted by the hospital’s 500 strong volunteer Help Team, the booties are a reminder that Easter is about rejuvenation and new life. The donation by the volunteer team has become an annual event at the San.
“Our Easter mums love receiving the bunny booties” said Amanda McCamey, midwife and acting nurse unit manager of San Hospital maternity, where close to 2000 babies are born each year and which has over 100 midwives on its team.
“The booties are incredibly cute—they’re obviously made with so much love by the volunteers. The mums get so excited.
“For the San babies, they’ll be a lifelong reminder they were born at a special time of the year when we all celebrate life.”
Hospital general manager Brett Goods said Easter is a very special time for the hospital.
“We love Easter and all that it means here at the San,” he said. “It’s a time to reflect on Jesus’ life, His suffering for us and our hope for the future.
“It’s a time for rejuvenation and relaxation for those not working, and a chance to appreciate our faith, our family and our friends.
“We celebrate life all year round here but Easter is really very special.”
