Look, ask, imagine

As God’s last-day movement in the South Pacific, we are living in exciting times. In 2024, PNG for Christ saw remarkable growth and brought us closer together as a church family. This momentum continues with South Pacific for Christ in TPUM this year, followed by NZPUC in 2027, AUC in 2028, a return to PNG in 2029, and the Southern Asia-Pacific Division in 2030.

Look

Our brothers and sisters in PNG drew inspiration from Habakkuk 1:5: “Look at the nations and watch—and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told” (NLT). It was a privilege to witness PNG for Christ, which many compared to Pentecost. Reflecting on what God accomplished leads me to ask: Are we looking through a spiritual lens as we plan and serve? God often does far more than we can see when we trust Him and remain focused on His mission.

Ask

At the beginning of this quinquennium, our Division president challenged us with Psalm 2:8: “Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession” (ESV). As a father, I appreciate that my children can ask me anything, yet my ability to respond is so limited. Our Heavenly Father is not limited. He is the God who spoke the world into existence and continues to work powerfully today. As we pray and fast for the people and nations, let us remember who we are speaking to and ask boldly in faith.

Imagine

Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that God is “able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (ESV). This challenges us to consider whether our view of God limits what we believe He can do.

As we join our church family across the South Pacific in prayer and fasting, may God open our eyes, strengthen our faith, and expand our vision. If we choose to look, ask and imagine, I believe we will once again stand amazed at what God accomplishes through His people.
