Brisbane Adventist College (BAC) held its 2026 Week of Worship from May 11 to 15, inviting students to explore themes of faith, courage and identity through the program’s “Dive In” theme.
Guest speaker Pastor Raul Moran, lead chaplain at Mountain View Adventist College in Sydney, shared messages based on biblical figures including Barak, Gideon, David, Moses and the apostle Peter, encouraging students to develop a personal relationship with Jesus.
“Organised programs like Week of Worship are great, but what I get really excited about is what comes next: the small group Bible studies, the one-on-one conversations and the relationships with Jesus that will be built throughout the year,” Pastor Moran said.
The college transformed its worship venues with underwater-themed decorations and interactive displays. One installation featured paper prayers suspended across a wall, allowing students, staff and parents to share personal reflections, prayer requests and messages of gratitude.
Throughout the week, Pastor Moran encouraged students to view faith as something practical and personal. Reflecting on his own journey into ministry, he shared how his understanding of God changed while studying at Avondale University.
“Until then, God was a God of rules to me,” he said. “But at Avondale, I met people who loved Jesus and found this incredible joy in who He is.”
Students also reflected positively on the program. Year 12 student Mannix said the week had helped him grow spiritually. “I am getting to know God on a better level,” he said.
Another student said the messages about David and Goliath had encouraged him to continue trusting God despite challenges.
According to Pastor Moran, Week of Worship programs are intended to create opportunities for ongoing spiritual conversations and discipleship beyond the event itself.
“There’s peace in knowing Jesus is with us now and always,” he said. “What’s ahead isn’t the most important thing; it’s seeing clearly who God is.”
