The South Pacific Division (SPD) Executive Committee, in partnership with the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) Executive Committee, has announced a series of leadership appointments and transitions.
Pastor Clive Tefaatau has been appointed vice president by the TPUM and will also take on the ministerial secretary responsibilities previously held by Pastor Sione Ausage. Pastor Tefaatau brings 27 years of pastoral and departmental service, having entered ministry in January 2000. His experience spans local church pastoral leadership, youth ministries direction, district coordination and cross‑cultural ministry.
Talonga Pita has been appointed general secretary by the SPD Executive Committee, transitioning from education leadership into senior administration. With more than 35 years of denominational service, Mr Pita has served across all four unions of the SPD, contributing extensively to education, governance and mission development.
The TPUM Executive Committee also expressed their appreciation for the significant contribution of Pastor Sione Ausage, who has given 32 years of faithful service in pastoral ministry and leadership roles across the Pacific. Most notably, Pastor Ausage served as president of the Samoa‑Tokelau Mission, where he provided steady leadership during seasons of organisational complexity, cultural sensitivity and mission growth.
On behalf of the missions and institutions, TPUM president Pastor Charlie Jimmy expressed thanks and formally acknowledged and farewelled Pastor Ausage, who has accepted a pastoral call to the Northern Australian Conference.
The wives and families of the leaders were also recognised for their support and contribution.
The TPUM Executive Committee also advised that it will work prayerfully to consider suitable candidates for the positions of education director and media and communications officer, ensuring future appointments align with the Union’s strategic priorities and mission focus.
During the meetings, SPD president Pastor Glenn Townend offered special prayer for the TPUM leadership team, affirming their calling, shared responsibility and commitment to serve with unity, humility and faith.
