The Sanitarium Health Food Company’s commitment to building healthier, connected communities goes beyond the field—it’s on the ice too!

Through the organisation’s Grassroots Community Support Program, which backs local sporting clubs and individuals with funding, uniforms and merchandise, Team Sanitarium has supported staff member Tim Rye in his competitive ice hockey journey.

Rye, a graduate revenue analyst at Sanitarium’s head office in Berkeley Vale NSW, plays forward for the Central Coast Rhinos in the Australian Ice Hockey League. With Sanitarium’s assistance, he was able to represent the region for the 2024–25 season, travelling with the team and purchasing gear to support him being game-ready.

For Rye, ice hockey is more than a sport—it’s a way to stay fit, healthy and connected to a vibrant community.

“Sanitarium’s support means everything to me,” he shared. “It feels great that my workplace backs me and my passions.”

Grassroots Community Support Program marketing manager Sharon Green said the initiative aims to reflect Sanitarium’s commitment to supporting whole-person health. “It’s one of the ways Team Sanitarium continues to bring the purpose and values of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to life, whilst helping people to eat well and live well,” she said.

“Sponsorships like Tim’s give us the chance to back ideas that connect people, encourage healthy habits and reflect Team Sanitarium values. His passion and drive really stood out. It’s fantastic to see our team members thriving both at work and in their personal pursuits.”
