South Pacific Division performers are taking centre stage at the General Conference Session.
Anna Beaden, Sandra Entermann, Marleta Fong, Marcha William, Sanja Kitevski, Narko Tutuo and the Wiles Memorial Singers are among those who have showcased their musical talents on the main stage over the last few days.
For Ms Fong, this is her third time singing at a GC Session, but her first time attending as a delegate. Despite her previous experience, she admitted feeling nervous before going on stage—tucking her phone inside her Bible to discreetly reference the lyrics if necessary.
“In the end it is like having family worship or an AY program just on a bigger scale,” she said. “The scale of it does make you think introspectively about how inadequate you feel to be encouraging the world Church so to speak.
“But God is good, and He afforded us the opportunity so it was a blessing to take it.”
For her performance, Ms Fong shared an original song, “Missionary”, an opportunity she describes as a privilege.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to do so, and to do it with Sanja and Narko,” she said.
“I’m in the process of recording this song as part of a new album at Psalter Studios. I hope it will be a blessing to those who listen, to share God’s love in practical ways. Just like Jesus does and has for us.”
Performing at a GC Session was a first for Anna Beaden.
“It was exhilarating and humbling,” she said. “The hall is so big and makes you realise how small you really are. It felt exciting to be able to perform my original song, “Unimaginable”—which shares about the God that I love and heaven—with Adventists from all around the world!
Ms Beaden was also invited to sing a collaboration special item called “One Voice, One Mission”. “Connecting with 18 other soloists plus an incredible choir for a few hours during rehearsals and backstage was probably the highlight of my music career,” she said. “Such a high calibre of talent and deep love for Jesus flowing from every member of that group. Seriously special!”
