Work on the Atoifi Dental Clinic in the Malaita Province, Solomon Islands, is progressing well, with only a few minor tasks remaining.
Completed works to date include the connection of the dental chair, installation of vinyl flooring, plumbing work and installation of a new toilet.
Exterior improvements included the placement of river gravel at the clinic’s entrance and construction of a concrete step at the back door. Earthworks have also been carried out to create a pathway leading to the basement, where the dental machinery will be housed.

Further refinements include additional interior and exterior painting, installation of signage, and the fitting of door and cupboard handles. The final phase of the project involves unpacking dental equipment and supplies in preparation for operational use.
The dental clinic is being funded by Dr Genna Levitch, a dentist, and his son-in-law, Tim Edwards, from Australia. The funds have been channelled through ADRA Australia and will be administered by ADRA Solomon Islands.
The official handover of the Atoifi Dental Clinic to Atoifi Hospital is scheduled for June.
