A small village on the south-west coast of Madang Manus Mission has been impacted for Jesus in an area of Papua New Guinea where there are few Adventists.
Three young people were baptised at the end of the program in Timoenai village, and 72 Bibles were distributed to new contacts.
The evangelistic meetings, held from August 9-16, followed the introduction of the Discovery Bible Reading (DBR) program into Timoenai village. DBR studies have been happening in the village for several months.
Newly-elected Local Level Government president Pomaleu Langisa, an Adventist, made the evangelistic meetings possible by providing funding. The program was also supported by members from five organised Adventist churches from Western Manus District.
With the theme “Say Yes to Jesus”, guest speaker, Madang Manus Mission president Pastor Garry Laukei, challenged the people of Timoenai to make a decision for Jesus. Pastor Laukei told the crowd that saying yes to Jesus is what everyone should do.
Mr Langisa said the government of Manus Province has spiritual development as its first priority and he was pleased to see his people attend the meetings to hear the truth. He arranged for an impact project to be carried out in the village by the church members who supported the program. In three days, they built a new teacher’s house for Timoenia Primary School.
