Women’s International Day of Prayer (March 7) was commemorated throughout the Western Highlands Mission, Papua New Guinea. Thousands of women participated, using packages compiled by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The women ministry department of Rakamanda Seventh-day Adventist Church in Enga Province conducted a weeklong program from March 2 to 6, with seminars every evening, entitled “Praying the name of God”, drawing hundreds of church members. Each evening, attendees formed small groups, reading Bible texts and holding intensive discussions about the significance and theology of God’s names, before ending with group prayer.
According to attendees, the members were blessed by studying the names of God.
On the Sabbath (March 7), the women shared testimonies about how God saved and rescued them during their afflictions. More than 20 women stood up confidentially, proclaimed their faith to Jesus with prayer offered by Pastor Elias Keran.
“Always appreciate God in any circumstances you ventured into in life,” said Pastor Keran. “Your appreciation to God shows that you love God.”
The Sabbath morning message was shared by Carolyn Paul on the theme “A Woman, Faith and Prayer”. She contextualised the message to the local setting, stressing that faith comes with significant theological benefits. “Faith can make you experience the salvation of Jesus Christ and love Him more; so His love will compel you to love others.” She said, there are huge envelopes of blessings under the foot of the cross. “When you get down on your knees and pray to God, the heavenly authority will crush the earthly authority through your faith.” She encouraged attendees to never keep their faith silent.
The church was blessed by the week-long seminar and Sabbath morning service and members look forward to the next resource package to come.
