Nine women participated in specialised sermon preparation training from December 8 to 12 at Sonoma Adventist College (Papua New Guinea), led by college chaplain Pastor Garry Laukei.

Sonoma’s dining hall manager Alphonse Rupu also participated in the training, which according to Pastor Laukei, equipped attendees to “craft and deliver sermons that are logical, progressive, convincing and climatic, avoiding confusion”.

College principal Dr Jennifer Litau praised the initiative, calling for college-wide training in 2026 to teach pulpit etiquette, including knowing when to stand, speak and sit.

“[Dr Litau] delivered a standout practical sermon on Friday evening . . . appreciated for its clarity and impact,” Pastor Laukei said.

The five-day program concluded with the awarding of certificates to all participants.
