Hengiapa Seventh-day Adventist Church in Yinimba, Menyamya district, Papua New Guinea, recently hosted a week-long mission initiative—“Mini Menyamya Mission”—from September 14 to 20.

The program brought together seven organised churches along with 40 company churches, reflecting the united efforts of pastors, ministers, missionaries, lay members and carpenters. Their teamwork became the driving force behind the mission’s success. As one leader noted, just as military victories are won by focusing all forces on a single objective, great ministry achievements come when God’s people unite under one vision.

The event marked a historic milestone for Hengiapa church, which has faithfully served the community for 36 years. With these new developments, the number of churches in the Menyamya district now stands between 40 and 50, contributing significantly to the growth of Morobe Mission and the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM).

During the week, four churches were dedicated simultaneously—two newly built within days, and two existing church buildings that had not previously been dedicated. Several new members were baptised, and inspiring sermons encouraged believers to embrace a culture of discipleship.

Local leaders were also acknowledged, including Jeffery Tobias Kome, local level government president, whose leadership spearheaded the church planting project, alongside business houses, public servants and supporting churches.

“This achievement shows that leaders are risk-takers, and God is faithful,” said Pastor Kevin Pais. “The mission continues as we disciple and grow His church.”
