Fifty people, including correctional officers and the prison commissioner, were baptised at Oloamanu Correctional Centre during Samoa for Christ.
The baptisms followed evangelistic meetings conducted by Pastor Laneselota Seufale, who serves as the government-appointed spiritual pastor at the correctional centre.
During the campaign, Pastor Seufale shared messages focused on salvation, forgiveness and hope in Jesus Christ.
Reflecting on his ministry at the correctional centre, he said the difficult access was one of the few challenges.
“The only hard part is the access road, which is an untarred rugged road, but teaching them about salvation is my passion,” Pastor Seufale said.
The meetings were part of Samoa for Christ, held from August 16 to 30 across Samoa. Led by the Samoa andTokelau Mission, the campaign involved 64 sites and has resulted in more than 1487 baptisms.
While Pastor Seufale conducted the correctional centre meetings, intern pastor Falepau Aumalaga from Wellington, New Zealand, was assigned to Samatau Adventist Church.
Representing the North New Zealand Conference, he worked with members from the Samatau and Manono churches through prayer, Bible studies, visitation and evangelistic meetings.
Their combined outreach resulted in 23 baptisms at Samatau, bringing the total number of baptisms from the two ministry sites to 73.
The intern pastor described the experience as a significant step in his pastoral journey.
“Seeing people hear the truth, surrender their lives to Christ and publicly declare their faith through baptism has strengthened my own sense of calling to ministry,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to Pastor Seufale for his mentorship and thanked Samoa and Tokelau Mission leaders for providing opportunities for pastors and church members to work together during the campaign.
Follow-up nurture and discipleship are continuing for those baptised during Samoa for Christ.
