Seven people were baptised during a weekend retreat at Inonda Adventist Primary School in Papua New Guinea.
Held under the theme “Stories of Faith”, the retreat brought together students, teachers and community members for worship and Bible presentations.
The seven baptismal candidates included four students, two teachers and one parent. They were baptised in the Inonda River, beside the school grounds, by Northern and Milne Bay Mission general secretary Pastor Liborius Ato.
Among those baptised were a father and son, as well as a teacher and her Grade 6 son.
Pastor Ato said baptising two female teachers was a first for him.
“I am thankful to God I am baptising two female teachers, which to me is a historic experience,” he said. “I have not had this experience in my career as a missionary.”
Following the baptism, certificates were presented to the candidates during an afternoon worship program. The seven new members were also welcomed into fellowship at Inonda Seventh-day Adventist Church.
“This truly is a sign of blessings to the school when we are seeing both teachers and students being baptised,” Pastor Ato said.
Inonda Adventist Primary School operates within the Popondetta District of the Northern and Milne Bay Mission.
