Adventist Record has a new editor, with Pastor Jesse Herford appointed to the role.
He succeeds long-time editor Jarrod Stackelroth, who has accepted a call to serve as assistant director of communication at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Pastor Herford joins Record after serving as associate editor of Signs of the Times magazine for the past five years. Prior to that he spent six years in the North New Zealand Conference, serving in Tauranga, Palmerston North and Masterton in a range of ministry roles, including church pastor, youth coordinator and school chaplain. He is also a podcaster and helped organise New Zealand’s first Digital Discipleship Conference.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenges—and blessings—of stepping into the role of editor for Adventist Record,” Pastor Herford said.
“I’ve got big shoes to fill, but I know that with God’s guidance and the support of the amazing Adventist Record team, we’ll continue sharing what God is doing in and through His church in the South Pacific.”
South Pacific Division president Pastor Glenn Townend, who serves as consulting editor of Record, welcomed the appointment.
“Jesse has good experience in digital and written communication—we need both today and the digital area is likely to grow,” Pastor Townend said.
“He has shown as associate editor at Signs of the Times that he has the skill and ability to keep a team working to a printing schedule. His articles and podcasts are spiritual, biblical and share a fresh perspective and application.
“I wish Jesse and the team God’s blessings as he expands the reach and influence of the Record across the Pacific.”
Pastor Herford is passionate about discipleship, theology, history and culture. He is married to Carina and they have a young daughter, Bridget.
