The rollout of the Quality Adventist School Pacific (QASP) framework has begun with the first training in Tonga, marking a significant step in strengthening Adventist education across the Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM).
More than 60 teachers and school staff gathered from March 6–11 for the training, which was led by South Pacific Division (SPD) education director Dr Elisapesi Manson and TPUM education director Talonga Pita.
Participant Patea ‘Aho, on behalf of the teachers, said the training was eye-opening, providing opportunities to explore practical ways to strengthen quality and Adventist identity in their schools.
The training marks the beginning of a wider rollout of QASP across TPUM throughout the year, as part of a broader effort to improve accreditation outcomes and support school development in the Pacific.
QASP has been developed as a contextualised school improvement framework for Adventist schools in TPUM and Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM), building on the long-established Quality Adventist Schools (QAS) framework used in Australia. While QAS has supported school improvement for decades in alignment with Adventist Accreditation Association (AAA) standards, QASP has been specifically adapted to meet the unique geographical and cultural challenges of the Pacific.

With approximately 400 Adventist schools across the two unions, accreditation has been an ongoing challenge. QASP aims to address declining accreditation completion rates by providing a clearer, more relevant structure for school improvement, while strengthening Adventist identity and ethos.
The framework focuses on creating Christ-centred learning environments where students can flourish spiritually, academically and personally. It also supports schools to build a culture that reflects the mission and values of Adventist education in Pacific contexts.
The SPD has committed significant funding toward the development, rollout and ongoing monitoring of QASP throughout the current quinquennium. The framework was approved by the AAA at the General Conference education advisory meetings in September 2025, establishing it as the official school improvement framework for Adventist schools in TPUM and PNGUM.
The rollout also aligns with TPUM for Christ, scheduled for July–August, reinforcing a shared mission focus across education and evangelism. Leaders say the goal is to see improved school outcomes and thousands of students transformed through Christ-centred education.
QASP training will continue across the region in the coming months as more schools begin implementing the framework.
