The Adventist Community Services (ACS) and women’s ministries departments of the Alotau Town Seventh-day Adventist Church joined forces for a high-energy morning of fitness and environmental stewardship.

The morning commenced with a fun run and community clean-up. Participants gathered at the Alotau Town bus stop, working their way through the heart of the district to collect rubbish and beautify the township.

Afterwards, Minister Wonern Hirodidi, district director of the Alotau Seventh-day Adventist Church, presided at a gathering to officially launch the two departments for 2026. In his address, Minister Hirodidi emphasised the importance of “faith in action”, highlighting that physical health and environmental care are central to the Adventist mission of service.

”Our goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Alotau,” stated an ACS representative. “By starting our year with a commitment to cleanliness and health, we set a standard for our service to the community.”

The event successfully united church members in a common cause, demonstrating the church’s ongoing commitment to the wellbeing of Alotau’s residents.

The church is located within the Northern Milne Bay Mission of the Papua New Guinea Union Mission.
