Sonoma Adventist College, Papua New Guinea, has farewelled outgoing principal Dr Jennifer Litau, honouring her leadership and management during her time at the college (October 2022–December 2025).

Many developments occurred at Sonoma under Dr Litau’s leadership. Her departure also marks the conclusion of 27 years of dedicated service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with her official retirement effective December 25, 2025.

Dr Litau plans to reside in her home province of Kavieng, where she will focus on prison ministry—an area she believes needs greater attention. Her quiet and humble departure leaves a leadership gap at the college.

In her farewell address, Dr Litau urged Sonoma staff to unite in love and teamwork, creating an environment where non-Adventist students can see Jesus and be inspired to follow Him.

Papua New Guinea’s Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Feo Kinoka, spoke via Zoom on behalf of the Prime Minister and the Department of Education, praising Dr Litau’s commitment to both government and church. He highlighted her “motherly” spiritual leadership, noting it was appreciated by students and leaders alike.

Speaking on behalf of the administration, human resources manager Jesslyn Biliai described Dr Litau as a leader of integrity and humility, with a tireless dedication to staff and students. She noted that Dr Litau inspired critical thinking, focus, and high standards in processes and deadlines.

Sonoma chaplain and the college’s English church pastor Garry Laukei thanked Dr Litau for her church involvement alongside her administrative duties. He said the church would remember her contributions, particularly her support for building maintenance and extension projects.
