The New Britain New Ireland Mission (NBNIM) health department in Papua New Guinea recently underwent a three day training to assess its financial management. Themed “How Healthy is Financial Management in the SDA Health Agency?”, the event was held at the Mission office in Kokopo, East New Britain Province on October 20-22.

The training was facilitated by Christian Health Services (CHS), a faith-based non-government organisation which partners with the National Department of Health to oversee and support church-run health services across the country.

Participants assessed the financial management systems of the NBNIM health department and strategised ways to strengthen financial accountability, compliance and governance within the health system. CHS expressed their appreciation for the Mission’s strong governance framework, noting that its unique structure promotes order, transparency and accountability in all aspects of its operations.

Pastor Richard Koroi, NBNIM secretary, shared his gratitude with the CHS team for their visit and reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with CHS. He applauded their continuous support in improving health service delivery across PNG. Gifts were given to the CHS team as a token of appreciation for their time, effort and ongoing partnership.

The meeting concluded with an official handover ceremony between the outgoing health director Rayleen Bebe and Conrad Stanis who was appointed to the role in September during the NBNIM session.
