Mums At The Table has been honoured with a finalist nomination at the Christian Media & Arts Australia (CMAA) Excellence in Media Awards 2025.

The ministry was recognised for its work in the “Innovation in Mission Resourcing” category of the awards, which “celebrates individuals, teams or organisations that have demonstrated ingenuity in aligning their resource-generation strategies with their mission—whether that involves leveraging technology, storytelling, partnerships or unique campaign designs.”

This is the second time Mums At The Table has been a finalist in the CMAA Awards. In 2023, it was a finalist in the “Community Impact Award” category.

Mums At The Table creates partnerships with local Seventh-day Adventist churches to form local Mums At The Table groups, mobilising local church members as volunteer moderators who develop relationships with community mums through online Facebook groups and in-person events, actively fulfilling the Christian mission of sharing Jesus’ love and making disciples. The ministry also shares parenting information on digital media.

Judges selected Mums At The Table as a finalist based on its partnership framework, which involves pitching the idea to local churches, online training and support of volunteer moderators, as well as digital marketing.

“The Mums At The Table ministry was developed based on the model created by Jesus, which is to meet the people’s needs first,” says Melody Tan project manager of Mums At The Table. “It continues to be a very effective way of introducing Jesus and His love to the community. We just made it relevant for us living in the 21st century.”

On average, Mums At The Table local groups organise more than 20 in-person meet-up events and playgroups monthly, attended by an average of 200 community mums.

“We may have been recognised for how we partner with and support local churches through local Mums At The Table groups, but this ministry is only successful because of the incredible sacrifices made by our volunteer moderators,” says Ms Tan. “It’s their tireless effort, showing up and serving the community mums, that even made this nomination possible.”

There are currently 19 local groups in Australia and New Zealand, moderated by 59 church members, representing 28 Seventh-day Adventist Churches. Depending on the moderators’ availability, local events—or meet-ups—range from weekly playgroups to playground and café catch-ups or even dessert nights.
