Church leaders and guests gathered at Sonoma Adventist College, Papua New Guinea, recently to dedicate a new 1.5 kilometre chain mesh fence, marking a step forward in campus security and land protection.
Organised by principal Dr Jennifer Litau and her administration team, the small ceremony was held after the Sonoma Board meeting on May 29.
PNGUM president Pastor Malachi Yani dedicated the fencing to the glory of God and for the purpose of providing security to the college. Also in attendance were PNGUM CFO Kenton Ghona, New Britain New Ireland Mission secretary Pastor Richard Koroi and members of the Sonoma Board.
The fencing was constructed by the works department of East New Britain, with some funding provided by Risk Management Service at the South Pacific Division. Support was also provided by the Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM).
The fence aims to provide a clear demarcation of the college’s property while enhancing security for students and staff.
Dr Litau expressed gratitude to RMS and PNGUM for helping make their dream a reality. She said it was a miracle to have the fence erected in such a short time.
