Seventh-day Adventist youth from the Wewak Island District, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, organised a blood donation drive at Boram General Hospital in Wewak on March 15 as part of Global Youth Day (GYD) 2025.
The initiative was led by the West Coast Wewak Island District Adventist youth, with participation from five local churches—Meni, Niugo, Tangara, Gander and Wom—as well as youth from Yawasoro, Passam and Rainumbo.
A team from Boram General Hospital’s blood bank, led by Aglea Kovingre, facilitated the donation process, with 49 participants giving blood.
The event was attended by Sepik Mission youth director Pastor Richie Gako and district director Minister Francis Nima, who supported the youth in their efforts.
At the conclusion of the event, elders Raymond Manamb and Nickson Berak led a closing session, followed by a prayer from pastor Nima.
In response to the successful turnout, Boram Hospital’s blood bank team requested another donation drive on June 14 for World Blood Donor Day. Plans are already in place for the district to facilitate the next event and continue supporting the hospital’s blood supply.
