Pacific Adventist University (PAU) marked another historic milestone in its 40th year with its 39th graduation ceremony held on Sunday, November 24. This year’s event was the largest in the university’s history, with 319 graduates receiving degrees.
Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape, was the keynote speaker and delivered an inspiring address to guests and graduands.
Among the distinguished graduates was the first recipient of a Master’s degree from partner institution, Fulton University College in Fiji. Additionally, two PAU Graduate Teaching Assistants, Kenny Wantip (History) and Dulcie Motamota (Education, graduated with Distinction), successfully completed their Master of Philosophy degrees and will continue their valuable contributions to the School of Humanities, Education & Theology.
The ceremony was attended by PAU staff and other dignitaries including South Pacific Division president and PAU chancellor Pastor Glenn Townend, and former PAU Dean of Education, Dr Elisapesi Manson, who is the newly appointed Seventh-day Adventist Church (South Pacific) Education Director.
Another achievement was the graduation of Beiabue Teraakau Tiaon, reportedly the first Pacific Islander to earn a bachelor’s degree in Midwifery, signifying a significant step forward in healthcare and education for PAU.
The university also recognised the outstanding achievements of graduates who received Merit awards for exceptional academic performance. These awards honour the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the students.
