“Jesus cares for me” was the theme of a weekend Adventurers camp held at the Wind Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church compound in West Honiara, Solomon Islands, on August 16-18.

The program officially began on Friday night with the opening of Sabbath, followed by Sabbath activities focusing on spiritual awards. On Sunday, the children participated in activities to earn their recreational awards.

“Our Adventurers learned about their spiritual awards and recreational awards as part of their classes,” Adventurers leader Serah Newter said. “On Sabbath, they focused on spiritual awards, where they learned about topics such as Boy Jesus, Acts of Kindness, Temperance, the Rainbow Promise and Creation.

“On Sunday, the Adventurers worked on their recreational awards, which included fitness, healthy eating, hygiene and manners.”

More than 20 children, along with 13 teachers, attended the weekend camp. Six-year-old Ben Ken was among the youngsters who participated.

“I’m really happy to have joined this camp, especially since it was hosted at our church,” Ben said. “One of the things I enjoyed most was participating in the activities over the weekend.

“I will continue attending my classes and look forward to future camps organised by the Adventurer department.”

The camp aimed to fulfil the award requirements for each Adventurer class: Sunbeam, Builder, Helping Hand, Busy Bee, Early Bird and Little Lamb.
