General Conference president Pastor Ted Wilson travelled up to Mount Hagen on Friday being welcomed to the Western Highlands Mission (WHM), before travelling on to Minj, Jiwaka Provence, where he will be preaching for the 16 sermon “Revelation of Hope” series, part of the PNG for Christ campaign.
Welcomed on the tarmac by church leaders, just outside the gate Pathfinders and a marching band welcomed the world church president before he was whisked into a waiting vehicle. From there he travelled to the WHM office where he was transferred into an amazing vehicle, specially built for the purpose. It was made from kunai grass, more like a hut on wheels than a car, decorated in bright PNG style.
The convoy slowed traffic through Mt Hagen as the delegation rolled through town to Queens Park, which was teaming with crowds who had come out to hear the president.
Governor of the Western Highlands Province, Wai Rapa, welcomed Pastor Ted Wilson and all the international guests to PNG and Pastor Wilson also had the opportunity to address the crowd, who had even climbed onto shipping containers for a better vantage point.
Pastor Wilson told the crowd that the name Seventh-day Adventist provides identity, origin, purpose and destiny.
Pastor Wilson then travelled to Minj for the start of his program.
