Priscilla Mariassouce begins as the new chaplain on the Lake Macquarie campus this semester. An alumna (BMinTh, 2018), she returns to Avondale with local church pastoral and school chaplaincy experience. We asked her seven questions. Here are the answers she gave.
Who served as chaplain when you studied at Avondale? What do you most remember about them and their ministry?
Wayne French. He encouraged us to try anything when it came to ministry ideas and spirituality.
How do you define success as chaplain?
That people feel safe with you.

Who’s one of your heroes?
Can I name two? Bobbie Houston and Christine Caine. Both women have pioneered ministries and global movements to make humanity better, serve others and make love the default.
How do you pick yourself up after a setback?
I go to God. He brings comfort and helps me make sense of things. I also have a group of people who are absolute rocks in my life.
