Adventist Church in NZ responds to eruption disaster

The president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North New Zealand has released a heartfelt message in response to yesterday’s White Island eruption.

Five persons are confirmed dead and more fatalities are expected after the volcano exploded off the coast of New Zealand’s North Island.

North NZ Conference president Pastor Ben Timothy said:

“Our hearts go out to the victims and families affected by the volcanic eruption on Whakaari /White Island on 9th December 2019.

“As the Seventh-day Adventist Church in North New Zealand, we express our sympathy to the families and friends here and abroad who have lost loved ones on White Island.

“We pray for God to comfort those affected by this tragedy. Local Whakatane Adventist Church pastor Paul Jonker says the Whakatane Adventist Church at 57 James Street, will be open for prayers and service on Saturday between 10 am and 4pm and all are welcome.”
