In 2018 medications containing codeine—a potentially addictive substance—were made prescription only in Australia. These included common pain killers like Nurofen Plus and Panadeine. Sydney Adventist Hospital pain specialist Dr Alan Nazha discusses with 2GB’s Steve Price why increasing concern about a possible opioid crisis prompted the change and the risks associated with potentially addictive pain killers.
