Springwood Seventh-day Adventist Church (Qld) celebrated the end of 2016 with a Gala Event, celebrating the achievements of various church members.
Carol-joy Patrick received a citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning from the Federal Government Office of Learning and Teaching for her work at Griffith University, as well as a Life Membership of the Australian Collaborative Education Network, a national network for work-integrated learning.
Dr Donald Pitchford, a long-time member of the church, received a Certificate of Outstanding Service from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons for work done as Director of Orthopaedic Services at the Gold Coast University Hospital, while members Gladys and Geoff Waters celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Adventist expat missionary and Springwood church member Roy Richardson was also appointed a Member of the Order of Logohu from Papua New Guinea—equivalent to member of the Order of Australia—during a presentation at Government House in Port Moresby.
The members were all from the ReGen Sabbath School class, and were congratulated by senior pastor Kendell Cobbin.
“We thank God for many blessings in 2016,” said Pastor Cobbin.
