Adventists across six provinces in Papua New Guinea are being encouraged to become digital missionaries as Western Highlands Mission (WHM) prepares for OneVoice27.

The initiative was officially launched at Kiminiga Youth Hall in Mount Hagen on September 23, with hundreds of church members and leaders attending from Enga, Jiwaka, Hela, Southern Highlands, North Fly and Western Highlands.

OneVoice27 is a global Seventh-day Adventist Church initiative encouraging members to use their voices and available platforms to share Jesus, culminating in a coordinated period of activity in September 2027.

Speaking at the launch, WHM Sabbath School and Personal Ministries director Pastor David Maxwell emphasised the opportunities presented by digital platforms to reach people with the gospel.

“OneVoice27 is a call for digital missionaries,” Pastor Maxwell said, noting that people are exposed to large amounts of information through media and encouraging members to help make the message of Jesus heard in those spaces.

He also called for different areas of the Church to work together strategically in preparation for the initiative. “OneVoice 27 will help us to make the name of Jesus live and move people closer to Him,” he said.

WHM president Pastor Andrew Opis reinforced the evangelistic focus of OneVoice27, encouraging members to use available platforms to connect people with Jesus.

“OneVoice27 is not [about] entertaining the curiosity of others, but bringing them to Jesus,” he said.

Pastor Opis said the initiative comes at a time when people are facing economic, political and other challenges, and encouraged members to work together to share their faith through media.

Participants at the launch included Pathfinders, young people, Adventist Youth Ministries coordinators, pastors, district directors and other church leaders and workers.

The event concluded with participants committing to prepare for OneVoice27 in September 2027 and to use digital and other platforms to share their faith.
