Twenty-three ministers were ordained during the Central Papua Conference (CPC) annual Workers’ Meeting, held at Mt Diamond Adventist Secondary School from September 13 to 20.
More than 600 workers, spouses and children attended the week-long gathering, which focused on spiritual renewal, leadership and ministry under the theme “Grounded in the Word and Focused on Mission”.
Papua New Guinea Union Mission (PNGUM) Ministerial secretary Pastor Daniel Ricky was a guest speaker, leading morning and evening worship sessions. His wife, Elis Ricky, facilitated sessions for pastors’ wives and Partners in Ministry.
During one of his presentations, Pastor Ricky encouraged pastors and church leaders to reflect on their calling and responsibilities.
“You are all leaders and pastors carrying responsibility to care for our church members,” he said. “Don’t doubt and question your calling. God could have called others, but He called you. You must value your calling.”
PNGUM president Pastor Danny Philip also addressed participants, presenting a message on the biblical principle of servant leadership ahead of the ordination service. The 23 ministers were ordained under the leadership of CPC Ministerial secretary Pastor Kadasa Damaro.
The program also included departmental presentations and sessions covering different areas of ministry. PNGUM Stewardship director Pastor James Kainguia presented on equipping individuals and communities for sustainable growth and self-reliance.
Practical services were provided for workers and their families throughout the week, including health checks and a two-day NASFUND information service. Separate sessions were also held for workers’ spouses.
Fourteen workers approaching retirement were also recognised for their years of service to the Church during an appreciation program.
