The Gabensis Adventist English and Pidgin Churches under the Huon Gulf District of the Morobe Mission (Papua New Guinea) held a combined Adventist Youth Ministry (AYM) Investiture Program, celebrating a year of commitment, perseverance and spiritual growth on November 29.
Hosted outdoors at the Gabensis Pidgin Church, the Investiture marked the official closing ceremony and “casing of the flags” for 2025. The event recognised the faithful efforts of Adventurers, Pathfinders and Ambassadors who successfully completed their class requirements throughout the year.
District Director Tonny Tama officiated the ceremony, presenting pins and special achievement awards to each participant. His presence emphasised the importance of nurturing young people through structured spiritual and practical development.
The theme for the 2025 investiture, “Pressed,” reflected the challenges faced by both leaders and members—particularly financial and personal struggles. Despite these obstacles, the spirit of determination remained strong. Leaders testified that the theme reminded them to remain steadfast in their service and calling.
Minister Cathy Gumbalik shared a devotional message titled “What Is in Your Hand?” Using the story of young David defeating Goliath, she reminded the congregation that God equips each person uniquely. “Do not compare yourself even when the giant stands before you,” she challenged. “When God calls, He provides what you need.”
A total of 61 Adventurers and 59 Pathfinders were invested—an inspiring testament to the dedication of parents, leaders and the young people themselves. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and joy as families witnessed the achievements of their children.
The program concluded with a dedication prayer offered by retired pastor Pastor Philip Moses, followed by a final charge from Mr Tama. He urged all leaders, parents, and young people to remain responsible, faithful and committed as they continue serving in the church and preparing for Christ’s soon return.
The Gabensis AYM community now looks ahead to 2026 with renewed strength and a shared mission to grow young disciples for Jesus.
