Lecturers and students from Sonoma Adventist College (Papua New Guinea) participated in a spiritual retreat from October 17-19, enjoying a time of fellowship, worship and reflection as they recommitted their lives to God in preparation for final exams.

Five departments were involved, including 153 business students and their lecturers, who embraced the theme “Jesus sees your problem and has provided a solution”.

The guest speaker for the Sabbath service, Pastor Garry Laukei, encouraged the students to place their faith in Jesus, who has solved their problems at the cross.

The retreat featured uplifting songs and testimonies of how God has worked in the students’ lives during their time at Sonoma.

Reflecting on the theme, third-year business student J Ben Waraph said, “I’ve learned that all problems in life from the past, present and future were solved by Jesus Christ on Calvary.”

Business department head Isaiah Senau expressed satisfaction in seeing students and lecturers take time to reflect and recommit their lives to God, focusing on Jesus Christ as the ultimate problem-solver.

The Sabbath evening program also included a leadership handover ceremony, with outgoing student leaders passing the mantle to the continuing students. The retreat concluded with a prayer of blessing from Pastor Laukei for all the students as they prepare for their exams in two weeks’ time.
