Fifteen Mile Seventh-day Adventist Church, Papua New Guinea, joined the global Adventist community in celebrating World Pathfinder Day (WPD) on Sabbath, September 21, under the theme “Pathfinders on Purpose.”
More than 45 Pathfinders and young people took part in community service, beginning with cleanup at the 15 Mile Police Station and visiting 10 young prisoners. The group shared food, sang, prayed and encouraged the inmates with Scripture and the message that God’s love and forgiveness remain available despite past mistakes. They also extended an invitation, assuring the prisoners that once released they are welcome to attend church and find fellowship in a supportive community.
During the weekend, the program focused on the biblical story of David, reminding Pathfinders that God calls them to live with courage, faith and purpose from a young age.
Church pastor, Minister Sinias Ray said, “Like David, he was just a shepherd boy, but God chose him to become king. Your test score and what people say about you does not define the purpose God has for your life. When you live with purpose, God can use you to impact lives, no matter your age.”
Church leaders commended the Pathfinders for putting their faith into action, as their activities reflected the spirit of the Pathfindering ministry and discipleship through service, leadership and purposeful living.
