The Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) Youth Congress 2024, held in Samoa, saw more than 1200 young people gathered from nine countries within TPUM. The event, which took place from December 25 to 30, at the National University of Samoa, brought together youth eager to deepen their faith and commitment to Jesus.
A highlight of the congress was the powerful baptism ceremony, where 65 young people made a lifetime commitment to follow Christ. Participants from the following missions were baptised:
- Kiribati: 6
- Samoa: 8
- Tonga: 1
- Fiji: 2
- Vanuatu: 44
- Niue: 2
- American Samoa: 2
“Seeing young people from across the TPUM dedicate their lives to Jesus is the heart and soul of this Youth Congress,” said Pastor Uili Tinomeneta, TPUM Youth Director. “This is why we gather—to witness lives transformed and hearts renewed by His love. We praise God!”.
Guest speakers at the event were Dr Sven Östring, Director of Ministry and Strategy for the South Pacific Division, who took the morning devotions, and Dr Pako Edson Mokgwane, Associate Youth Director at the General Conference, who took the evening worships.
The event also featured a series of inspiring workshops and activities, including a focus on mental health, career guidance, media in making disciples, and community service projects. The young people were also involved in outreach programs such as street preaching, prison visitation and cleaning projects.
Additionally, 30 young individuals courageously stepped forward to dedicate one year of volunteer service as missionaries to the West Indonesia Union Mission in the coming year.
With the theme “I WILL GO WITH GOD – SHAPE THE WORLD,” the congress empowered TPUM’s young people to embrace their faith, step into leadership roles and spread the message of Christ to the world.
