Recent events in the Lake Macquarie region (NSW) have emphasised gratitude and appreciation for the contributions of volunteers. Local Adventist church affiliated organisations hosted initiatives to honour those who have given their time to support various programs and services.

Avondale School Year 11 hospitality classes organised a High Tea to honour local community volunteers at the Cooranbong Community Centre.

“The students showcased their culinary talents by preparing a delightful variety of foods, set up the venue, greeted guests and served the food and beverages with a smile,” said Hillview church member Mary Fedorow.

In Morisset, ADRA Op Shop leaders showed appreciation to a group of 150 volunteers by offering breakfast over a four-day event from September 1-4. Manager Theo Van Bezouwen thanked each volunteer and acknowledged their “invaluable contributions to the ADRA team”.

Following the theme of gratitude, Hillview church (Morisset) held a thankfulness service. Coordinated by church member Marilyn Östring, the service encouraged members to reflect on the blessings in their lives and to share their gratitude with others.
