A spiritual blessing was held at Sydney Adventist Hospital (the San) on Tuesday, February 27 to mark the relocation of the hospital’s cardiac ward.

The unit has moved to a new home on the same floor as the existing cardiac services, meaning that all inpatient cardiac services are located on the same level.

Addressing nurses, hospital executive and other staff, chief operations and nursing executive Clare Lumley recognised those responsible for overseeing the project and ensuring the seamless shift of patients and equipment. She also acknowledged that she had a particular interest in the project, having been a cardiac nurse. Following the blessing the new ward was officially opened.

The San has been leading the way since 1979, when it became the first private hospital in Australia to perform advanced cardiac surgery. Today, more than 3700 cardiovascular surgeries take place at the San each year.
